Michael Walstrom, MBA, CFP®
You might say that Michael’s natural talents align perfectly with his career. Driven to complete tasks, (he loves a great checklist,) with precision, he cares a great deal about doing things right the first time. Born and raised in Harbor Springs, Michigan, he pursued his undergraduate degree at University of California, Los Angeles, and enjoyed his first career in film and television production. After a decade in L.A., the traffic became too much for him and he moved to South Florida.
Michael developed a passion for finance and economics while working through his master’s in business at the Huizenga Business School at Nova Southeastern University. After completing his MBA, he joined Merrill Lynch in Boca Raton where he met his future business partner, Yudi Gross. After joining forces, Michael and Yudi moved their practice to Morgan Stanley. While continuing to build a practice at Morgan, Michael earned a Certificate in Financial Planning from Northwestern University. He successfully achieved his Certified Financial Planner™ designation in 2019. He also completed his Fundamentals of Alternative Investments certificate from the CAIA Association and was named an Alternative Investment Director at Morgan Stanley in 2020.
One of the best decisions Michael ever made, he says, was to take his practice independent. Throughout his years with big banks, he consistently wanted to do more for his clients and create an environment where they could truly thrive. This desire led to the founding of Aequus Partners in 2020.

He has lived in South Florida since 2006 and currently resides in Boynton Beach with his wife, Laura, and two children, Henry and Daphne.
